A Public Hearing will be held on Monday October 20, 2025 at 6:35pm at the Community Center in Smithville Flats, 5285 State Hwy 41, for the following HIGHWAYS OR PORTIONS OF HIGHWAYS THAT WILL NOT BE PLOWED by the Town of Smithville Highway Department from November 1, 2025 to April 1, 2026.

Please take Notice that a Public Hearing will be conducted by the Town Board of Smithville on Thursday November 6th, 2025 at 6:30pm for the purpose of contracting with the Genegantslet Fire Company, Inc. for fire protection within the Genegantslet Fire District (Smithville portion) for the period January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. The amount to be raised by tax is $102,045.00. All persons may be heard for or against. Such Public Hearing will be held at the Community Center, 5285 State Hwy. 41 Smithville Flats, NY.

Notice of Public Hearing 2026 Preliminary Budget
Please take Notice that a Public Hearing will be conducted by the Town Board of Smithville on Thursday November 6th 2025 at 6:40pm to hear Public Comment on the proposed 2026 Preliminary Budget for the Town of Smithville. A copy of the Preliminary Budget may be viewed at the Town Clerk's Office during regular open hours, M,T,W,Th,F 9am-noon or on the Town website www.smithvilleny.gov. The proposed salaries of elected/appointed Town Officials are as follows:
Highway Supt: $40,500.
Councilmen: (4) $ 6,400. ($1,600. ea)
Town Clerk: $ 11,000.
Town Justice: $ 4,500.
Town Assessor: $12,075.
Tax Collector: $ 6,000.
All persons may be heard at that time for or against the Budget as compiled, or items contained therein. Such Public Hearing will be held at the Community Center, 5285 State Hwy. 41 Smithville Flats, NY.

PUBLIC HEARING TO OVERRIDE THE 2% TAX CAP FOR THE 2026 TOWN OF SMITHVILLE BUDGET
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE the Town Board of the Town of Smithville shall hold a Public Hearing on the 6th day of November 2025 at 6:45pm at the Community Center located at 5285 State Hwy 41, Smithville Flats NY in the Town of Smithville for the purpose of hearing all interested persons, both for and against, whether the Town Board should adopt Local Law # 1 of 2025 , which Local Law is entitled a Local Law "Overriding the Two Percent Real Property Tax Levy Limit for the Fiscal Year 2026", which Local Law, if enacted, would allow the amount of real property taxes levied by or on behalf of the Town of Smithville for the budgetary year 2026 to exceed the real property tax levy cap imposed by General Municipal Law section 3-C.
A copy of said proposed Local Law may be obtained prior to the Public Hearing by contacting the Town Clerk, Alison Owens, Monday-Friday 9AM-Noon by phoning 607.656.7969 option 1, in writing to P.O. Box 217 Smithville Flats, NY 13841; in person at the Clerk's office located at the Community Center, 5285 State Hwy 41; or by viewing it on the Town website: www.smithvilleny.gov
All persons wishing to address the Town Board shall be given an opportunity to do so. Persons wishing to submit comment in writing prior to said Public Hearing may do so by forwarding the same to the Town Clerk aforesaid.
